Search For The Original Tree Of Knowledge (1992)

"Search For the Original Tree Of  Knowledge" a 10hr 23min weekend workshop given by Terence McKenna, Recorded live in Boulder, Colorado May 29-31, 1992.

Alien Dreamtime (1993)

Recorded live at a rave in San Francisco, California, in February, 1993.

A meeting of the minds merging the arcane texts and psilocybic ruminations of Terence McKenna with San Francisco's own ambient scribe Jonah Sharp is one of the more inspired pairings in electronica's convoluted landscape. Here Sharp cranks up the analog synths, breaks out the didjeridoos (courtesy of Stephen Kent of Lights in a Fat City fame) and sets up some great, expansive, warbling electronic tundras over which McKenna espouses his lambent text.

Lecture: Archaic Revival (1989)

The Archaic Revival (1989)

There is a spiritual obligation, there is a task to be done. It is not, however, something as simple as following a set of somebody else's rules. The noetic enterprise is a primary obligation toward being. Our salvation is linked to it. Not everyone has to read alchemical texts or study superconducting biomolecules to make the transition. Most people make it naively by thinking clearly about the present at hand, but we intellectuals are trapped in a world of too much information. Innocence is gone for us. We cannot expect to cross the rainbow bridge through a good act of contrition; that will not be sufficient.
We have to understand. Whitehead said, "Understanding is the apperception of pattern as such"; to fear death is to misunderstand life. Cognitive activity is the defining act of humanness. Language, thought, analysis, art, dance, poetry, mythmaking: these are the things that point the way toward the realm of the eschaton. We humans may be released into a realm of pure self-engineering. The imagination is everything. This was Blake's perception. This is where we came from. This is where we are going. And it is only to be approached through cognitive activity.

Bill Hicks: Len Belzer Interviews

Here is a collection of interviews from The Comedy Hour Hosted by Len Belzer of the late and great Bill Hicks.

Bill Hicks: Shock & Awe (2008)

Shock and Awe is a live recording posthumously released by stand-up comedian and satirist Bill Hicks in 2003, on New York based Invasion Records. The album was recorded at the Oxford Playhouse. It's the abridged version of Salvation, why the fuck they felt the need to put an abridged version out is beyond me.

Bill Hicks: Salvation (2008)

Salvation is a two-disc live album posthumously released by stand-up comedian and satirist Bill Hicks in 2005, on Rykodisc. The album was recorded at the Oxford Playhouse. It is an unabridged version of Shock and Awe.

Bill Hicks: BBC Radio 2 - The Dark Poet

Dark Poet: 10.30pm on Radio 2 on August 21, 2007

Phill Jupitus, hour-long documentary about Bill Hicks for Radio 2.

A BBC spokesman said: 'This documentary charts Bill's fascinating life: his love/hate relationship with America; the continuing censorship of his act; his quest for spirituality; his popularity in Britain; his battle with drink and drugs; and, finally, his battle with cancer.

'Interspersed with live material, it demonstrates why Hicks is still many comedians' favourite stand-up.'

Bill Hicks: Love, Laughter & Truth (2002)

Love, Laughter and Truth is a 2002 album consisting of previously unreleased material by comedian Bill Hicks. The material on the album was originally recorded by Bill Hicks himself for personal use, but was after his death reviewed by the Hicks Estate, after which it was decided to release the previously unreleased bits on this album. The material comes from recordings made from 1990 to 1993 in Denver, San Ramon, West Palm Beach, San Francisco and Pittsburgh.

The album is plagued by poor sound quality. This is due to the poor equipment that was used for many of the recordings and the lack of volume adjustments while recording. Before releasing the album, careful remastering was done. For instance, more than 120 pops were removed and seven sections de-hissed. Still, poor sound and volume variations between tracks can easily be heard.

Bill Hicks: Flying Saucer Tour, Vol. 1 (2002)

Recorded: 20 June 1991

Flying Saucer Tour Vol. 1 is a live performance album by stand-up comedian Bill Hicks. Unlike his other albums, where the crowds have generally been fairly receptive and accepting of his act, this album is notable for the negative (or lack of) reaction Hicks receives throughout most of the album.
Despite good sales and hints in the album's liner notes at the 'Flying Saucer Tour' releases being an 'extensive series', this remains the only volume available to date.

Bill Hicks: Philosophy (2001)

Philosophy: The Best of Bill Hicks is a compilation album of routines by Bill Hicks.

Bill Hicks: BBC Radio 4 Documentary

Judging by the presenter, Angus Deayton and the talking heads, Mark Thomas, Stewart Lee, Richard Herring, Rob Newman, Jo Brand, Alan Davis, Ardal O'Hanlon, Greg Proops, Ed Byrne, Fred Macaulay, Phil Jupitus & Mark Little i'd guess this is from 1998-2000.

Bill Hicks: Rant In E Minor (1997)

Recorded between November 1992 - December 1993

Rant in E-Minor is an album by comedian Bill Hicks, posthumously released in 1997 alongside the sister album Arizona Bay on February 25, 1997, marking three years since his death.
The material on this album is darker and angrier in tone than some of his earlier work; Hicks can be heard screaming at his audience in between chapters, and very prominently during the track "You're Wrong Night."

Bill Hicks: Arizona Bay (1997)

Arizona Bay is an album by comedian Bill Hicks, posthumously released in 1997. It was released alongside Rant in E-Minor, marking three years since his death. The album's title refers to the hope that Los Angeles will one day fall into the ocean due to a major earthquake. Hicks contends that the world will be better off in L.A.'s absence:

“    Ahhh, it's gone, it's gone, it's gone...All the shitty shows are gone, all the idiots screaming in the fucking wind are dead, I love it...leaving nothing but a cool, beautiful serenity called Arizona Bay. That's right, when L.A. falls in the fucking ocean and is flushed away, all it will leave is Arizona Bay."

Bill Hicks: The Lost Hour (1993)

A Crisis Of Consciousness (1995)

"Our present global crisis is more profound than any previous historical crises; hence our solutions must be equally drastic. I propose that we should adopt the plant as the organizational model for life in the twenty-first century, just as the computer seems to be the dominant mental/social model of the late twentieth century, and
the steam engine was the guiding image of the nineteenth century."

Mind Body Spirit Festival, San Francisco, California (1983)

R. Buckminster Fuller speaking at the Mind-Body-Spirit Festival, San Francisco, California, March 25th 1983.

Angel Passage (2001)

This was performed on February 2, 2001 at The Purcell rooms as part of the "Tygers of Wrath" evening of readings and performances celebrating the life of William Blake. Alan Moore and Tim Perkins performed alongside Jah Wobble, Billy Brag and Fat Les. Patti Smith presented an evening of poetry and music devoted to Blake at the same event.

The Highbury Working, A Beat Séance (1997)

This was performed on November 20, 1997 at The Garage in Highbury by Moore and Perkins, with dancer Paule van Wijngaarden. This dealt with an exploration of the area of Highbury, in London. The CD was designed by John Coulthart and released in November, 2000. During his study of the area, Moore looks at - among other things - the building of the football stadium (and the Arsenal football team itself), construction of the underground, Samuel Taylor Coleridge and local gangsters.

The Assassination Of Julius Caesar (2003)

Who was Julius Caesar, a dictator or a populist? And who really was Brutus, who murdered him on the Ides of March? A young hero or a participant in a deep seated conspiracy? This intriguing lecture by the noted author, speaker, activist and scholar Michael Parenti provides surprising new insights and parallels to today that are both shocking and amusing.

Parenti spoke about his Pulitzer Price nominated book: The Assassination of Julius Caesar, a people's history of ancient Rome. He was recorded by Brian Barry in the summer of 2003 in San Francisco.

The JFK Assassination & The Gangster Nature Of The State (1993)

When Oliver Stone’s movie JFK opened in December 1991 a huge PR campaign was mobilized against the film. Even progressives spoke out. Noam Chomsky wrote in support of the Warren Commission's findings – in contrast Michael Parenti gave one of his highly acclaimed talks criticizing the lone assassin theory. The bitter questions that haunted defenders and critics alike was whether government agencies of a democratic country would do such a thing as assassinate an elected President.

In this talk Michael Parenti turns to that question first – he examines, in part one, what he calls “the gangster nature of the state.” In part two he goes over details of the assassination and critiques The Nation, The Progressive, Chomsky and Cockburn. He spoke in Berkeley, CA, on the 30th anniversary of the JFK assassination.

UFO: The Inside Outsider (1993)

Terence McKenna - UFO: The Inside Outsider (1993)

Recorded at the UFO Expo in Los Angeles, CA. New material from Terence McKenna for UFO fans. "Following Bracewell, we are in the phone home influence of a kind of attractor from the future that is literally sucking biological time into something else." He says we are furtively searching for a suitable metaphor to explain the transcendental object at the end of time.

"We are part of a symbiotic relationship with something which disguises itself as an extra-terrestrial invasion so as not to alarm us."
